Laminate Flooring and Water
Laminate flooring, while beautiful and very long wearing, is also easily damaged by excessive moisture. SERVPRO of Columbia, Montour & Sullivan Counties has handled many water losses where the laminate flooring has begun to exhibit swelled edges and board ends. Once the swelling is visible or even once water is detected beneath the laminate, it must be removed. Laminate is almost always accompanied by a thin foam pad. Once the pad gets wet, it must be removed, as it is impossible to dry. The laminate boards will not be reusable after removal, due to swelling.
